Letterpress type

I’ve bought some letterpress letters recently from EBay. As an art student many years ago I didn’t get into printing, although it’s something I’ve always been curious about. The printmaking studio was glorious, and I always loved going in there for a nosy! It was in an old textiles mill in Bradford so the space was open with lots of natural light flooding through the huge windows running the full length of the studio. With the smell of ink in the air, and the wooden floors and brickwork painted white, it really was a beautiful space.
I was identified as more of a 3D person (my drawing skills leave a lot to be desired) so I opted for specialisms in textile and ceramics. Looking back however, I do regret not exploring printmaking as an option. So I am adding that to my bucket list, and at some point in the future I’ll give it a go.
Anyway, back to the letterpress letters! I’ve bought an odd lot of type, and hope to win more that I’m currently bidding on. My plan is to use them to imprint the clay; I am hoping that they will embed in a mould so I can make a series of pieces. I’m not sure if that will work, but a bit of trial and error work should hopefully lead to something interesting (fingers crossed!).
